How Counts Work In Campaign Designer

Recipient counts are displayed on the elements of active campaigns in the Campaign Designer screen.

The display of counts provides a clear picture of where recipients are in the campaign, recipients being triggered by events, and recipients being sent emails or other communications. This is an excellent way to quickly and easily analyze active campaigns as they are being processed.

Counts can be displayed in two places:

  1. At the center of an element - represents recipients who are at this place in the campaign flow, but have the potential to move on due to an action or a time delay.
  2. On the edge of an element - represents recipients who have passed through, and therefore have been processed, by the element. They are at the end of a campaign phase and will not be processed again.

Counts also show recipients who were in the campaign audience when it started, but have subsequently been removed from processing by being excluded from the audience. They are displayed for information purposes and may be re-activated from this phase of the campaign if they meet the criteria for being included in the audience again.

If an element has more than one output, the recipients at each output are displayed.

For example in the screen shot below, the count on the Audience element is zero because the campaign has started and all recipients have passed from the Audience phase into the next element. The next element is an If Branch, here the audience is split according to the true/false criteria specified in the If Branch element. You can see that the counts on the element are rounded up or down. For example, '0.3M' could represent an actual count of 304,234. Use the Record Viewer to see the actual true count value.

Refreshing counts

To refresh the counts displayed on the campaign elements, click the Refresh Counts button at the top of the Campaign Designer screen. You can do this for campaigns that are in an active or paused state.

Viewing recipients in Record Viewer

To view the recipients in a count, click on the recipient number. The Record Viewer pane opens.

The layout in Record Viewer is the layout of the campaign state table that holds a list of all recipients in the campaign, along with data regarding their campaign state.

You can sort the display by column. Click the Sort button and select the column you want to sort on from the drop-down list.
